Gestational Hypertension

Hypertension observed with the gestation should be followed. Tension showing tendency to go up as of week 20 generally constitutes risk for the health of mother and baby if not controlled. Hypertension may result in problems such as mainly toxemia of pregnancy called as preeclampsia and metabolism disorders and nutritional problems for the baby.

Hypertension can be controlled by early diagnosis. For this reason, routine doctor controls shouldn’t be ignored and you should avoid excessive weight gain in pregnancy.

Symptoms of hypertension observed in mothers gaining excessive weight in pregnancy are hand, foot and face edema in other words swelling. If you have hypertension, your doctor will follow you closely and administer necessary treatment.
