Whats Dental Implant?

Dental implant is a titanium screw inserted into the jaw bone.  It is used in completing one or more than one missing teeth.

• Are implants reliable, how long do they last?

Implants are well-known and tested treatment method today. 95 percent of the implants today stay in the mouth for long years if properly maintained.

• I have some of my own teeth in my mouth. Even so, can implant be made?

Yes, the teeth deficiency can be completed with implants. All from a single tooth to entire edentation can be completed with implants.
• Can implants be applied to every patient?

 This is related with the general health condition and the condition of the bone in the jaw of the patient. Except some special cases, implant can be applied to most patients. First of all, the dentist will carry out some special tests to understand the condition of the bone in the jaw. If there is not sufficient bone in the region that implant will be placed or the quality of the present bone is not good, firstly bone cultivation may be needed.
• Is implant placement a painful procedure?

Implant is placed with a minor surgical procedure. As it can be performed by anesthetizing completely with a simple local anesthesia, it can also be performed under sedation if the patient is very agitated or in some cases under general anesthesia. The patient never feels any pain in any ways, however after the operation some discomfort sense may occur for a week. And this can be easily controlled with analgesics.
• How long does it take to complete the treatment?

The dentist will give you an approximate timing in the beginning of the treatment.  However, in the new implant systems, this period has been reduced to about 3 months.
